We are all too familiar with terms like “sweat shop”.
We are all too aware that many of the clothes and shoes being sold are made by workers working in terrible conditions.
We have all heard the terrible news stories such as the 2013 disaster when an eight-story factory collapsed killing over a thousand garment workers.
But how is the end consumer know which items are produced in factories with good conditions and those with bad conditions?

At Of The Oceans, this problem is as important to us as it is to you. We want our customers to be able to shop confident in the knowledge that all the clothes we sell are manufactured in factories with good conditions, paying workers a fair wage. We do this by only selling clothes that are accredited by the Fair Wear Foundation, or the Fairtrade Foundation.
The Fair Wear Foundation is a non-profit organisation. Its mission is to “see a world where the garment industry supports workers in realising their rights to safe, dignified, properly paid employment”.
By only using accredited suppliers, we can be confident that an independent body is protecting the rights of workers.
And that makes us happy!
