What Information We Collect
We will never sell any of your information to third parties.
We will only use your information with third party services where it is necessary for the operation of the business – for example, we use a payment gateway called Stripe to securely process your payments, Mailchimp for emailing newsletters (where you’ve opted in) and delivery services to deliver any products you’ve ordered.
Information provided by you
When you contact us or you place an order through our website or create an account with us, we record the data that you enter into our website so that we can respond to your enquiry or fulfil your order. This information is kept whilst ever your account is active or for up to two years, whichever is the longer. Information will only be kept longer than this wherever there is a legal requirement to do so.
Information automatically collected
In order to analyse how our website is used and to give our customers the best possible experience, we use services such as Google Analytics. This collects data such as your IP address, the type of device you use to access our website, where you are in the world and how you navigate through our website. The data collected by Google Analytics is for the sole use of Of The Oceans and is not used by Google itself. You can opt to disable Google Analytics below.
Embedded content from other websites
Our website may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
Should you wish to, any cookies stored from any site can be cleared from within your browser.
Our website has a journal (blog). When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. Users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
Individual’s Data Rights
Should you wish to know what information we store about you, or you wish that information (or comments) be erased, please contact us via the contact form on our website
We will use your information to contact you regarding your purchases or deliveries. We may contact you with newsletters or for marketing and promotional reasons, but only where you’ve opted to receive them. Where you have opted to receive newsletters, marketing or promotional material, you can opt out at any time by clicking the link at the bottom of the email.
